Our Pepeha

PEPEHA MO TE HATO PĀORA

Ko Pukewhakataratara te maunga
Ko Waitematā te moana
Ko Ngongetepara te awa
Ko Tainui te waka
Ko Te Kawerau ā Maki te iwi
Ko Hato Pāora te kura

We acknowledge the Iwi of Te Kawerau ā Maki and Ngāti Whatua ki Kaipara as the first people of the whenua on which our school stands. In 2022, we were blessed to begin our journey with Te Kawerau ā Maki. A fruit of this relationship is our beautiful school Pepeha, gifted to us through a process of inquiry, collaboration and respect; we developed this Pepeha together. Te Kawerau ā Maki worked alongside our community guiding us in the creation of this precious taonga. They will continue to walk alongside us so we develop a full understanding of our Pepeha.
